Hongongoi (july) and the early observations of spring!

Welcoming in Hongongoi today, knowing we have another month of rains to replenish the ruawai or aquifers of Parawhenuamea. The dark month of Pipiri has passed, and the second lunar month begins.

We have observed early signs of Spring already. The last time the kumarahou flowered in June we had a heatwave and drought. It feels like it will be a hot Raumati again. This Whiro moon is the perfect time to assess our environment around us to prepare for what the future will bring and plan for producing that which we are cultivating, in abundance.
